Rapid Media Converter is a Windows
utility that lets you convert virtually any audio or video file from
one format to another. H.264 MPEG? No problem. WAV to OGG? Sure, why
not.

Now
's get something out of the way here. Rapid Media
Converter is basically just a fancy front end to the open source, the
command line encoder FFmpeg media. But 's really a useful front end.
The utility offers two interfaces: an easy way and an expert mode. In
easy mode, you can choose from a variety of formats predefiined. So
just select the media files you want to convert and click on the audio,
Quicktime, WMV, DivX, Xbox, PS3, Wii or button to create a file
optimized for your system of choice.

In the expert mode, you have much more control over the
code of options and adjustments. For example, in Easy mode, there 's no
way to convert a file FLAC OGG. But you can do that in expert mode.

The program also includes a package of copies of
CamStudio to screencapturs that can convert to other formats using
Media Converter fast. In short, rapid Media Converter doesn 't do
anything that MediaCoder doesn ' t. But if you 're looking for an even
easier to use other, this program could be worth a look.

Microsoft 's Sysinternals team has
launched a new, free, lightweight virtual desktop manager for Windows
PCs called. Yes, Microsoft already has a virtual desktop manager
called, well, Virtual Desktop Manager. But PCs offers some advantages.
First, 's single executable file tiny. You do not need installation,
which makes this a good candidate to take with you on a USB key. And
secondly, PCs offers a wide range of keyboard shortcuts to choose from,
which could come into your hand if Alt +1 key combo is reserved for
something else.

If you 're scratching their heads trying to figure out
what is a virtual desktop, that is, here ' s how it works. You can
create up to four different areas of desktop and switch between them.
In other words, you can load some programs on the desktop 1, about 2
more on the desktop, and a few others on the desktop 3. The 'll
continue to operate all like changing back and forth. So if you have
iTunes play on a desk and an office to edit the document on the desktop
2, you can continue listening to music while you 're typing away.

The advantage is that if you 'is, for example, a 1280 x
1024 pixels control, but you'd like to have umpteen applications open
at once and there ' s no way to keep them all visible display. A
virtual desktop gives another 1280 x 1024 pixels canvas or two, or
three to work with them.
